Native Starches Are Present in Many Plants

Plants store starch as their form of glycogen. It is found in various plants like maize, wheat, potato, rice, barley, vegetables, manioc, and sweet potatoes. Through photosynthesis, plants produce starch, which serves as a source of glucose for their growth and reproductive processes. Starch enables plants to synthesize and store the energy needed for their physiological functions.

Native Starch Manufacture Services at CD BioGlyco

Based on our well-equipment lab and practiced researchers, CD BioGlyco provides custom scale and different purification needs native starch manufacturing services for clients. The flowchart of manufacturing is shown below:

  • Cleaning and Washing: Impurities are removed during the cleaning process of the raw starch sources. After that, it is cleaned to remove any surface impurities.
  • Steeping: To soften the cleaned starch source and start the starch extraction process, it is submerged in water.
  • Separation: To separate the starch from the insoluble components, the steeped starch supply is sent through a succession of centrifuges or screens.
  • Starch Washing: To get rid of any leftover contaminants, the separated starch goes through multiple washing processes. This is commonly accomplished by continually suspending the starch in water and letting it settle or by continuously washing it with hydrocyclones.
  • Drying: The dried starch is subsequently reduced in moisture content to a level that is appropriate for storage and additional processing.
  • Milling and Sifting: To obtain the necessary particle size, dry starch is milled into a fine powder. After that, it is screened to get rid of any bigger particles or agglomerates that may still be present.
  • Packaging and Storage: The final native starch product is packaged in suitable containers.

Additionally, some starches may undergo additional treatments, such as Modification or further processing, to enhance their functional properties for specific applications. CD BioGlyco also offers other Polysaccharide Manufacture Services for clients.
