Applications of Hot Water-based Extraction

Polysaccharides are essential biomolecules with diverse applications in medicine, food, and cosmetics. Hot water extraction is a commonly employed method for extracting polysaccharides from plant sources or other materials. By leaching the material in hot water, glycans are liberated from the cell walls and dissolve to form an extract at the optimal temperature. This approach offers several advantages, including simplicity of operation, absence of organic solvents or specialized equipment requirements, and gentle treatment of the product. Its broad utilization in medicine, food, and cosmetics underscores its significance. For instance, seaweed-derived polysaccharides find application as novel food additives. Moving forward, this technique will continue to play a pivotal role in the exploration and utilization of polysaccharide resources. Moreover, this method extends beyond conventional sources like plants and seaweeds, encompassing the exploration of alternative biological resources. Additionally, it focuses on maximizing the utilization of waste materials, enhancing efficiency in the extraction process.

Hot Water-based Polysaccharides Extraction Service at CD BioGlyco

CD BioGlyco offers advanced technology-based Polysaccharide Manufacture Services, which include Starch Manufacture Services and Glucan Manufacture Services. We also provide various polysaccharide extraction services utilizing hot water. The detail of our service is outlined below:

  • Raw Material Preparation

Select plants or other sources that are rich in polysaccharides. Thoroughly clean and chop them into small pieces.

  • Extraction Process

Mix the chopped material with water and place the mixture in a heating unit, such as a hot water bath or stove, at an appropriate temperature. Periodically stir the mixture to facilitate the release of polysaccharides. After the extract cools down, filter the mixture using filter paper or a strainer to eliminate any solid residue. Transfer the extract to a suitable container and utilize cold evaporation or other concentration methods to reduce water content and achieve the desired concentration. Subsequently, ethanol gradually precipitates the polysaccharide.

  • Separation and Purification

Centrifuge the resulting precipitate in a centrifuge to obtain a solid form. Collect the precipitate and dry it using an oven or vacuum dryer. Further purification is performed to eliminate impurities and obtain a pure end product.
