Characteristics of Carbohydrate Derivatives

Carbohydrate derivatives consist of monosaccharides and polysaccharides, which are also indispensable substances in our lives. Adequate carbohydrate derivatives can play a role in detoxification. In addition, it can regulate blood sugar and improve gastrointestinal function. Microorganisms are a kind of renewable resource, and their fermentation has great application value. At present, microbial fermentation has been applied in the fields of the pharmaceutical industry, food industry, energy industry, chemical industry, agriculture, plant transgenesis, and environmental protection. A large number of studies have found that the preparation of carbohydrate derivatives using microorganisms is characterized by short cycle time and non-toxicity. Therefore, the preparation of carbohydrate derivatives using microbial fermentation is an important research direction in biology.

Our Technologies

Microorganisms are a renewable resource capable of producing carbohydrates and their derivatives. At CD BioGlyco, we produce carbohydrate derivatives through several microbial fermentation methods.

Bacterial fermentation

Bacteria are an important class of catalysts for the production of carbohydrate derivatives, and we offer technology for the production of carbohydrate derivatives using bacterial fermentation.

  • We select the appropriate reaction conditions (pH, temperature, incubation time, and strain composition) to prepare complex carbohydrate derivatives.
  • We optimize the bacterial medium and select the carbon, nitrogen, and inorganic concentrations required by a wide range of microorganisms.

Fungal fermentation

Fungi are rich in nutrients and utilizing them for carbohydrate derivative production is also an important research. At CD BioGlyco, we use sucrose and glucose as the best carbon source, and screen for the most suitable temperature as well as pH for fermentation. In turn, we produce carbohydrate derivatives with different properties.

Whether bacterial or fungal, we offer the following methods of microbial fermentation to produce carbohydrate derivatives:

Liquid fermentation method

  • Our bacterium is inoculated into a liquid medium and cultured according to its optimal fermentation conditions. Afterward, the polysaccharide produced by the bacterium is subjected to isolation and purification operations in the components of the liquid medium to obtain the target product.
  • Advantages: A short production cycle, not limited by season, and a large amount of target products can be obtained in a short time.

Solid-state fermentation method

  • CD BioGlyco inoculates the bacteria in a liquid medium for a short time to achieve a rapid increase in the number of strains and then transfers them to a solid medium for subsequent cultivation. Finally, the products are isolated.
  • Advantages: The fermentation process is not easy to cause pollution.

Applications

  • Carbohydrate derivatives have good adsorption properties and they can be used to produce flocculants and biosorbents.
  • In the medical industry, carbohydrate derivatives can be used as delivery agents.
  • Carbohydrate derivatives produced using microbial fermentation are non-toxic. Therefore it can be used for the production of wound dressings.

Advantages

  • We have a wide range of microbial fermentation methods for the production of carbohydrate derivatives, which helps our clients study carbohydrate derivatives more efficiently.
  • Our carbohydrate derivative production services help scientists explore the physiological functions that carbohydrates have.
  • We have a production characterization of carbohydrate derivatives One-Stop Service, which greatly saves our clients' research time in carbohydrate derivatives.
