Characteristics of Gluconic Acid

Gluconic acid is a white or yellowish crystal found in many fermented foods. Gluconic acid is an organic weak acid, and the Fe, Zn, Ca, Mn, and Cu salts synthesized from it are the way for the human body to supplement trace elements. In particular, gluconic acid can be used as a water treatment agent and purifier, with the effect of descaling and corrosion inhibition. Besides, it can also be used as a food preservative. Industrially, it is also an important middleware. It can be used for the synthesis of its peripheral products or directly as a product to prevent sedimentation in the dairy industry. In other areas, gluconic acid also has important uses. For example, it is used as a cleaning agent, a processing aid for industry and textile industry, and a rust remover for metals.

Our Technologies

Gluconic acid has a wide range of applications. Therefore, research on the synthesis of gluconic acid is necessary. CD BioGlyco offers Bio-Fermentation, homogeneous catalytic oxidation, electrolytic oxidation, and multiphase catalytic oxidation for the synthesis of gluconic acid.

  • Bio-fermentation
Microbial fermentation refers to the oxidation of glucose to gluconic acid by the action of bacteria, fungi, or yeast. CD BioGlyco uses membrane filtration to separate the product (gluconic acid) from the enzyme on time. In this way, inhibition of the enzyme is prevented.
  • Homogeneous catalytic oxidation method
The main principle of this method is the synthesis of glucose into gluconic acid in the presence of an oxidizing agent. CD BioGlyco provides non-polluting, environmentally friendly oxidizing agents to participate in the reaction. We also screen for optimal reaction conditions.
  • Electrolytic oxidation method
We add a certain amount of glucose solution in an electrolyzer and then add a suitable electrolyte. The glucose is oxidized to gluconic acid at a certain temperature, voltage, and current.
  • Multiphase catalytic oxidation method
CD BioGlyco catalyzes the oxidation of glucose to produce gluconic acid and gluconate under -OH-rich conditions using oxygen-containing gas as the oxygen source and metal as the catalyst.
