Structure of Laminarian
Laminarin is also known as laminaran or leucosin, and is a water-soluble and branched polysaccharide found in vacuoles within the cells of brown algae. Laminarin is a class of low-molecular-weight storage beta-glucan, consisting of (1,3)-beta-D-glucan with some 6-O-branching in the main chain and some beta-(1,6)-linkages. There are two kinds of Laminarin chains, M type and G type, depending on the reducing end, where M chains end in 1-O-substituted D-mannitol and G chains end in glucose.

- Ultrasound-assisted extraction: Destroy cells with mechanical effects and cavitation of ultrasound and accelerate the dissolution of laminarin.
- Purification of laminarin
Strategies including size-exclusion chromatography, affinity chromatography, ultrafiltration, membrane filtration, etc. can be selected according to the specific requirements.
