Applications of Microwave-assisted Extraction (MAE) in Polysaccharides

MAE introduces microwaves to a traditional extracting approach. This combination of techniques heats the sample, causing the internal temperature of the sample to rise rapidly. Product release is facilitated by pyrolysis, flow shear, and aerosol effects. Microwave allows for uniform heating within the sample, avoiding localized overheating or denaturation. MAE has been applied to a variety of polysaccharide extractions from a range of sources, including plants, oceans, insects, and more. For example, alginate extracted by MAE has a higher viscosity and better bioactivity. MAE of chitosan is important in food preservation and pharmaceuticals. With the in-depth exploration of the MAE mechanism and the improvement of the conditions of the extracting process, the extracting efficiency and quality will be further improved in the future, and their application fields will be further broadened.

MAE Service at CD BioGlyco

At CD BioGlyco, we pay attention to every detail of our services and strive for perfection in every process, as evidenced by our many years of successful experience. We not only provide Polysaccharide Manufacturing Services including Glucan Manufacture Service and Starch Manufacture Service, but also combine MAE technology with various extraction technologies to provide clients with polysaccharide extraction services. Our services include but are not limited to:

Microwave Water Extraction service

We mix the samples with an appropriate volume of water and extract them under the condition of microwave heating. Water effectively dissolves the polysaccharides under the thermal effect of microwaves.

Microwave Acid-Base Extraction service

With the assistance of a microwave, an acidic or alkaline extraction solution is used to achieve efficient extraction through the synergistic effect of acid-base catalysis and heating by microwave.

Microwave Enzymatic Extraction service

Appropriate enzymes are added to the samples to degrade the cell wall by the action of enzymes and to promote the enzymatic reaction with the help of a microwave to achieve the desired yield.

Microwave-Ultrasonic complex extraction

We combine the effects of ultrasound and microwave to extract the samples by utilizing the mechanical effect of ultrasound and the thermal effect of the microwave. This combination of techniques accelerates the diffusion of solutes and transfer of substances and improves the efficiency of extraction.

Applications

  • Polysaccharides can be used as carriers and scaffolds in cell culture to promote cell growth and tissue regeneration.
  • Polysaccharides such as sodium alginate and chitosan, on the other hand, are used as biodegradable materials, wound dressings, and tissue engineering scaffolds.
  • Polysaccharides are used as adjuvants for water treatment and soil remediation.

Advantages of Us

  • Real-time monitoring and detection of the extraction process thus precise control of the extraction process, improving extraction efficiency, quality, and stability.
  • MAE requires less solvent volume to achieve higher extraction results.
  • The extraction process is short and the temperature rises quickly, preserving the natural structure and biological activity of the polysaccharide.

CD BioGlyco offers you the appropriate support and specialized knowledge in the development of your glycobiology program. You can rely on us to provide polysaccharide MAE services and professional after-sales service. If you are interested in any of our services, please feel free to contact us for details.
